EndResult® Software is a collection of steam plant engineering programs which operate in DOS and Windows®, and spreadsheet functions which operate in Lotus® and Microsoft® Excel environments. Using the spreadsheet functions, applications can be implemented in a familiar spreadsheet format to model specific equipment and plant cycles.
Sample pre-defined spreadsheets included with the software package can be used "as is" or modified to model the user's specific plant. EndResult® gives the user the tools and complete freedom to develop custom spreadsheets to perform steam plant calculations within popular PC-based spreadsheets.
EndResult® Spreadsheet Functions are called the same way standard spreadsheet functions are called. Results are obtained by using either the @ (at) symbol in Lotus® or the = (equals) sign in Microsoft® Excel before each function call.
Applications using the EndResult® Spreadsheet Functions can be extended into on-line, real-time applications with the addition of EndResult® Performance Monitoring Software . This can be done without having to rewrite them because the simplest applications up to the most sophisticated applications are executed within the familiar spreadsheet environment. In other words, this is a highly user-scalable approach.

Steam and water properties spreadsheet functions and programs compute the precise ASME properties of steam and/or water in all regions.
The properties can be accessed through your spreadsheet by typing the functions into the appropriate spreadsheet cell or by running the DOS- or Windows®-based programs to obtain:
Each ASME steam table function is available for the liquid, wet, steam, and critical regions if the region is known. If the region is not known, the "any region" function will choose the correct region for you and return the appropriate results.

Enhanced ASME PTC 4.1 Heat loss and Input-output boiler efficiency calculations are included in the EndResult® Engineering Software. Both the DOS programs and the pre-defined spreadsheet solutions provide performance results for a wide range of boilers from small fire-tube boilers to large supercritical utility boilers firing pulverized coal. The properties of the products of combustion, water, and steam are automatically provided by the EndResult® Engineering Software functions.
Up to more than 80 computed values are provided in the computed results including:

Rigorous combustion calculations are provided in the
EndResult® Spreadsheet Functions and programs for computing the
products of combustion including:
Flue gas measurements of oxygen and carbon dioxide can be on a
wet or dry basis.
These tools are commonly used in boiler, heater, and gas turbine performance calculations.

This spreadsheet function returns the full- or partial-load radiation loss from the ABMA (American Boiler Manufacturers Association) radiation loss chart.
This DOS program uses ASME equations to produce solutions for flow, beta, or differential pressure of a square-edged orifice plate or long-radius nozzle. Options for vent/drain hole, steam quality, and discharge/flow coefficient (either known or unknown) are provided. The calculations for an orifice can be made for flange, pipe, or vena-contracta taps. The calculations for a flow nozzle can be made for pipe or throat taps.
Reference and calibrating temperatures are completely adjustable. All required ASME steam and water properties, including steam quality, are automatically accessed or can be input manually if desired.

These spreadsheet functions model data tables with as many as 9 independent variables. The results may be used with other spreadsheet commands and functions.
EndResult® spreadsheet functions are included for:
*Functions with definable degree capability
These spreadsheet functions are commonly used to:
You can model load test data, published tables, or any experimental data you need to have available in your spreadsheet. The data tables can include thousands of test data points.
This tool even models and calculates the derivative of your data which you can use to determine incremental efficiency and incremental costs of your plant equipment. The incremental costs can then be used in optimum load allocation, dispatch, or for other purposes.
Features include linear, parabolic, cubic, quartic, plane, paraboloid, and large polynomial modeling with definable degree capability and index of curve fit.

The weight of moisture per unit weight of dry air can be obtained
with this spreadsheet function by entering dry bulb and wet bulb
temperatures or dry bulb temperature and relative humidity.
The specific heat of air and flue gas can be approximated with
these spreadsheet functions by entering the air temperature for
the specific heat of air or the flue gas temperature and the
carbon-to-hydrogen ratio for the specific heat of flue gas.
These spreadsheet functions reproduce the values given in the ASME PTC 4.1 Power Test Code for Steam Generating Units. While they are not as rigorous as the values given by the Mixed Gas Thermophysical Properties tool, they are very convenient when approximate values are needed.

These DOS programs compute
temperature from voltage or voltage from temperature for B, E, J,
K, R, S, and T thermocouples within +/- .04 degrees Celsius of
the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) standard
tables. Tables are also calculated for platinum RTDs for
resistance from temperature or temperature from resistance.

These DOS programs compute a single value or a table of values for calibrating boiler drum level and condenser level instruments. It allows adjustment of the reference leg and calibrating water temperatures and can automatically access all required ASME steam and water properties.
This convenient DOS curve program accepts up to
32 x and y data pairs and will produce a mathematical model of
the data to generate boiler efficiency versus load curves, flow
curves, and function curves for control systems. A special
function and instructions are included to develop optimum boiler
load allocation curves. The curve program also plots curves from
known coefficients.

EndResult® Pre-defined Spreadsheet Solutions, as listed below, are sophisticated steam plant solutions developed in a spreadsheet environment. These pre-defined solutions access functions provided by the EndResult® Engineering Software tools.
These solutions, as mentioned above, can be used "as is" or they can be easily modified to suit your particular needs. For example, several spreadsheets could be merged into one spreadsheet to form the basis of a larger solution such as a complete plant performance calculation and energy balance. This can then be merged with financial data to generate profit and loss statements. With the addition of the EndResult® Performance Monitoring Software or other suitable real-time platforms, these pre-defined spreadsheet solutions can provide real-time monitoring screens.
All spreadsheet solutions using EndResult® Engineering Software may be operated on-line with real-time data communicated into the spreadsheet by adding EndResult® Performance Monitoring Software.
